Last night we went to a birthday/exam completion party for Julie, one of the wives in the small group. We went to Big Bricks on North Lincoln, and we had a great time. Chris and Julie had reserved the upstairs room, and we had pizza and BBQ. Jack absolutely adores Mindi, so he was attached to her the whole time, and they went on some adventures together. Charlie was mesmerized with Mindi's husband Ian. It was really fun.
We went to church this morning, and we learned about simplifying our lives by gaining financial reconciliation. Financial sermons are tough. They spark discussion that isn't easy but really forces us to evaluate our patterns of spending, saving, and giving. It was good.
We all napped at the same time this afternoon which certainly helped us adjust our inner clocks. Tonight, we went to small group at Ian and Mindi's, and the group is going through The Meaning of Marriage by Tim Keller. It's a great book for marrieds or singles. Really. The discussion was honest and vulnerable and edifying. Iron-sharpening. We look forward to next time.
We came home and helped Jack wind down for the night. Poor guy still has so much trouble going to sleep and staying asleep. And he will not sleep alone. As I type, he's snoring in my ear. Sweet boy. I'm going to enjoy it. He won't sleep here forever. Soon enough, I'll miss his little legs crossed over mine, taking up way more of the bed by himself than Travis and I ever could.
Night, all.
