Heart at Ravinia Festival

Travis and I have been looking forward to tonight since April! We had a hectic start on the way out the door, but once we got to the train, the night went perfectly. We rode the Union Pacific Metra north to Ravinia, and the ride was just beautiful. It took about 35 minutes, I think. And then we stepped off the train literally at the entrance of Ravinia. 

Once we got inside the entrance, we both just loved it. It is so pretty and quaint and nice. There are several lawn areas where people had set up picnics with blankets and lawn chairs and cozied up for a night of music. 

We went and got ourselves some dinner which was absurdly expensive for pizza and a sandwich, but you just go with it when you're that hungry and in such good spirits, right? 

I love that picture of Travis because he was not-so-secretly cursing me out in his head for stealing his jacket. It was really chilly tonight. And even with my jeans and cardigan, I was not at all comfortable. I did give his jacket back, though, and we headed to find a spot for the concert. We stayed close to the entrance so we could make a mad dash for the train when the time came. 

When Heart came out, we were up by the Pavilion. We stuck it out through about six songs until the girls in front of us had gotten on our very last nerves, and we had to bail to the pathway that wasn't as close but was much more comfortable. We were hardcore singing "what about love", "these dreams", and "alone". Those Wilson sisters definitely still have talent.

Just as "alone" was finishing, we walked out to the train to head home. It was a beautiful, slightly too chilly night, and I'm so glad we got to go! We can't wait to go back next month for Journey!! We will pack a picnic, chairs, and, of course, warmer clothes next time. So so fun.
